Point of Attachment: Height, Position and Hardware

Where the service cable meets the building — clearance rules of thumb, fascia vs pole attachment and the brackets that carry the load.

Clearance drives everything

The point of attachment must keep the service span above ground, driveways and roads by the clearances in the network's service rules — typically several metres, more over vehicle access. When the building can't provide the height, a private pole or riser bracket makes up the difference.

Attach to structure, not cladding

The POA bracket carries the full mechanical tension of the span, in wind, for decades. It fixes to structural timber or masonry — never to fascia board alone, gutters or sheet cladding. Spreader plates distribute load on older structures.

The hardware list

A POA kit is short but specific: attachment hook or bracket rated for the span, strain clamp matched to the ABC size, drip loops, and UV-rated cable ties or saddles for the down run to the metering position.
