Stainless Steel vs Powder-Coated Enclosures

Choosing enclosure material by environment: when powder-coated steel does the job and when stainless or coastal-grade finishes earn their premium.

Powder coat for most sites

Zinc-coated steel with a quality powder coat handles the vast majority of urban and suburban installations. It's economical, takes branding and signage well, and repaints cleanly after decades of service.

Stainless where it's earned

Within a few kilometres of surf coastline, around pools, in food processing and in wash-down industrial environments, 316 stainless stops the corrosion that eats coated steel. The upfront premium is small against replacing a rusted-through enclosure and its contents.

Details that outlast the sheet

Material is only half the story: sealed seams, stainless hinges and lockable stainless latches, drip edges over doors and gasketed sealing faces decide how an enclosure ages. Custom fabrication gets these details specified rather than left to chance.
